Dining Room Chairs

One of the tasks I set aside for myself this week was to get the issue of not having good dining chairs under control.  On Monday, I found these online:

I knew that they had potential.  I worked on them last night and finished 3 of the 6.  What do you think?

List Update

Here's a quick update (mostly for my benefit) of the remaining activities I plan to do this week:

Guest bedroom
1.) Make pillows (fabric found and bought)
2.) Make valence and curtains (fabric found and bought), hang
3.) Move rug out from under the bed and to the space at the foot of the bed
4.) Refinish side tables and place back in the room (paint bought)

Aren't they pretty?

5.) Clean out closet
6.) Art for walls
7.) Find a narrow piece of furniture for either the foot of the bed or the wall opposite the foot of the bed

Dining room
1.) Find vintage chairs to refinish

2.) Refinish chairs
3.) Find new material for chairs

The plan for tonight is to redo the chairs.  I could probably also find time to make the pillows (and maybe the valence?) depending on how long the chairs take us.

Excuses Excuses

Yes, I'm still doing the 30 for 30 Challenge.
No, I haven't posted another outfit for a week.

Why?

I've been busy protecting the eyes of dogs everywhere (or just in the pool).

Evidence:

Some puppies are better at it than others:

I'll be back.  Don't worry.

Fun with Color

Last weekend, I took some time and painted a few objects from around the house that I've been wanting to update.

Here are the befores and afters:

Lamps (x2):

Ugly Gold Framed Mirrors (x2):

Corgi butt!

Hooks (x2):

While I extensively documented the process for all of them on film, they all just took the same few steps as always:

1.) Disassemble (for the lamp, I had to take off the shade and block off the sections I didn't want to paint with painters tape.  For the mirrors, I had to remove the frames from the mirrored glass and for the hooks, I had to take off each hook and save all the screws and hooks in one spot).

2.) Clean (wiped down with a light soapy solution, then let dry)

3.) Set up painting area (outside on a table covered with an old shower curtain)

4.) Lay out objects to be painted and make sure that none are too close if they are to be different colors

5.) Paint the first coat (for the metal pieces, I used a spray primer.  For everything else, just the spray paint in the color I wanted)

6.) Let dry then paint the second coat

7.) Let dry then paint a third coat (if needed)

8.) Let dry for a couple of hours

9.) Reassemble pieces and enjoy!

Power up!

I Just Have to Share...

I have been coveting a pair of Madewell shoes for months.  I went back and forth trying to justify their purchase (original price of $228, currently on sale for $159.99).  "But I can get another 25% off, so they'd really only be $xx.  Plus there's free shipping."  If you've seen them, you're probably in love with them just as much I am.  Just look at them:
Posting my first outfit post for the 30 for 30 challenge, I realized that my Vince Camuto lace up oxford heels are very similar:

Old obsession = over.  New obsession = loving my stuff.

30 for 30 Research: Madewell

With the start of the 30 for 30 right around the corner, I thought I'd post another "inspiration board" of what I'm digging right now to try to help me narrow down my 30 items.  Here's one I put together:

30 for 30 Research: J Crew

Hello, my name is Jackie and I'm a clothesaholic.

I have a walk in dressing room and I still don't have space for all of my clothes.  And yet, I have nothing to wear.  As I've become more and more addicted to style blogs over the last year, you would've thought that this would change.  That I would be inspired by my closet and have an amazing time each morning as I walk around sipping a mug of coffee gazing lovingly at my clothes as perfect outfits fall from the racks and puppies from the sky.

This is the furthest thing from the truth.

A typical morning includes me scrambling to put on clothes that kinda match or sorta look good or are comfortable and yet presentable enough for work.  I dread it.

Kendi from Kendi Everyday is hosting another 30 for 30 challenge.  It starts next Monday so, hypothetically speaking, I have all week plus the weekend to prepare.  I am doing this in an attempt to start making the most of what I own and stop shopping like a crazy person.

Over this week, I'll do research in order to prepare for this challenge and here's the kicker: I'm going to use things I already have.

Today's research is from J Crew and here are a few things that are possibilities for my 30 items:

TO BE MADE:

I'll be working on gathering my clothes and getting them presentable for the 30 item reveal this weekend.  Tomorrow's inspiration?  Madewell!
